I know that students have unique needs, including managing academic stress and mental health, choosing or changing majors and career paths, forming new social communities away from home, and learning how to remain connected to parents while functioning as autonomous adults. I enjoy working with people entering new phases of life and find it particularly rewarding to serve as a sounding board during transitions through university, graduate school, or the first steps of a career. I use a number of therapeutic approaches in my practice, depending on the needs of the individual, and believe I do some of my best work when I'm able to help people define their values and tap into their creativity in order to solve problems, gain confidence, get unstuck or change patterns that are no longer useful. The client/therapist relationship and rapport is critically important, and I am always happy to chat by phone before setting up a first appointment so I can learn about your goals for counseling and answer any questions you may have about me or my practice.
