Therapists for college students near Georgia State University
Are you afraid of making one mistake that ruins your whole life? Do you find yourself constantly tired and anxious? Unable to have fun no matter what you’re doing? Maybe you’re looking for a therapist who's a dungeon master and watches anime? Then I’m your person. I am passionate about providing affirming care to geeky queer, trans, and gender-expansive individuals (13 years and older), and I specialize in folks experiencing OCD/anxiety, identity exploration, and life transitions, although I love to work with clients on a large variety of concerns. My goal is to create a space where you can slow down and feel truly seen for every aspect of you. Together, we’ll build up your toolbox with skills so you can set boundaries with others and calm your compulsive thoughts. We’ll explore the habits you’ve been meaning to stop and create ways to manage your time better. One way I enjoy connecting with clients is through media, video games, and other current geeky events – also known as Geek Therapy, where we use fantasy and play to work through what brings you to counseling. Depending on your passions, this can look like utilizing games, creating Dungeons & Dragons character sheets, watching your favorite tv show together or even showing up to a session in cosplay! We can bring your interests into the room to make therapy less scary and more empowering. Counseling has been absolutely crucial to my own journey, while also opening my eyes to the lack of queer-affirming support that is out there. This inspired me to become a counselor who gives back to their own community, by creating brave and affirming spaces for LGBTQIA+ folx. I know how powerless and shameful it feels having to hide away parts of yourself to fit in with others and that is not necessary here. You can be yourself with me.
Anxiety, stress, fear, depression. All these words may describe the way you feel stuck right now, how do you get out? Making sense of our life experiences can be a little difficult for us, but I am here to help you find out what is getting in the way and what we can do about it. As a licensed and trained DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) Psychotherapist, I practice what I have found to be the most evidence based, effective, and personally meaningful approaches to help you exactly where you are, right now. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship/social issues, life transition, behavioral problems, suicidal or harmful thoughts, or bipolar or disordered personality traits, my practice is designed to provide relief and direction for your specific difficulties. I’m also here to help create the space for you to figure out what it means to be you, who you are, and who you want to be. Together, we can figure out the pieces. I welcome you to come, exactly as you are, right now, and we can move toward the person you want to be and the life you want to live. I look forward to meeting you, whether this is your first experience with counseling or if you are looking for a different approach. Whatever brings you to my office, we can do this together. I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Asbury Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Georgia. Additionally, I serve as a mental health liaison for most colleges and high schools in the Atlanta area and small group leader training in mental health awareness. As an LAPC, I receive my supervision from Marissa Mundy, LPC, CPCS. My additional trainings in Mindfulness Meditation, ACT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and CAMS enable me to work with clients of multiple faiths, backgrounds, and experiences.

Therapy is a journey into yourself. It is choosing to step forward into growth rather than shy back into what is safe and comfortable. When we talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. This process of self-discovery isn’t easy, but certainly worth it! My approach to counseling is that of being direct, honest, and straightforward. I work hard to balance that with care, compassion, and empathy. I will push you, but not past your limits. At times it may feel as if I am pushing you past your limits but that is because often times we aren’t able to see our true potential.
My mission is to provide a non-judgmental space for us to work towards reaching your goals. My approach to therapy is spiritually and culturally sensitive. Clients find me to be empathetic, honest and easy to talk to. Victims of narcissists, co-dependency, self-esteem, anxiety, and relationship issues are areas of particular focus. Using Gottman Methods and Emotion Focused Couples Therapy, I will be a guide by your side helping you to understand what has happened in your relationship, whether it can be repaired, and if so, how. I use Prepare-Enrich research-based program for engaged couples and Discernment Counseling for couples considering divorce or separation.
My mission is to foster healing, growth, and a strong sense of self in each of my clients. I am dedicated to creating a therapeutic space where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered to thrive. My therapeutic approach is integrative and holistic. I pull techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help build coping strategies and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to enhance mindfulness and emotion regulation. And, as a former Registered Behavior Technician, I use Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to teach behavior modification strategies. I am a music lover, avid reader, and proud member of the Atlanta Jewish community. I am a “lifelong” camper, attending overnight summer camp as both a camper and staff member for over ten years. Before pursuing my Masters in Social Work at UGA, I worked as a fourth grade teaching assistant and a behavioral therapist for children with severe autism.

I am a trauma-informed provider who specializes in supporting individuals and couples navigating conflict, depression, anxiety, infertility, chronic illness, grief/loss, trauma and transition. One of the bravest things we can do is begin to understand our own stories. Clients I support often grapple with the impact of narratives about who they were, are, or "should be", leaving them questioning, "Do I matter?" or shedding pieces of their identity to generate a sense of belonging. Together, we can explore societal and relational influences on your story, while identifying your values, strengths, options for healing and growth. I believe every client holds expertise in their own experiences and deserves the right to make decisions honoring personal journeys and values. My approach incorporates relational-cultural, feminist, and interpersonal lenses. I utilize the Gottman Method, CBT, DBT, IFS, and MSC strategies, also drawing from 12+ years of experience as a parent and educator. Everyone deserves to experience validation, compassion, and belonging. I am committed to facilitating a space in which you feel understood, valued, and supported as we prioritize your goals, explore your story, and incorporate strategies for reintegrating pieces of your Self so you also can experience increased personal acceptance and relational connection.
Living fully in the present can be hard when we’re still holding onto pain from our past. Far too often, to cope with our pain, we adapt in ways that helped us survive back then but limit us now. While it can be challenging to understand why we do the things we do and feel the way we feel, I’m here to meet you with compassion and curiosity. Together, we can explore the behaviors and beliefs that are holding you back from experiencing increased joy, purpose, and self-love. My Approach I tailor my approach based on your specific strengths and goals. Backed by research, the modalities I use are designed to empower you to move toward greater self-awareness and self-compassion. Using Internal Family Systems (IFS) level one training, I’ll offer a roadmap for navigating the complexities of your inner world as we understand how each part of you has a story to share and a path to healing. I also utilize a wide variety of therapeutic approaches, including Attachment-Based, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). With years of experience as a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200), I also employ somatic interventions to help you attune to your body’s wisdom. For couples, my training in Prepare/Enrich Premarital Counseling equips me to support you in understanding and strengthening your relationship for the journey ahead. Who I Work With As a trauma-informed therapist, I work with adults, adolescents, couples, and families. Most of my clients have experienced traumatic events that have impacted their functioning which can often present as emotional overwhelm, relational issues, low self-esteem, perfectionism, people-pleasing, shame, grief, thoughts of self-harm, suicidal ideation, dissociation, disordered eating, and/or addiction. My Background I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Richmont Graduate University. During my studies, I completed a thesis on Trauma-Sensitive Yoga and Mental Health Counseling which shaped my approach to treatment emphasizing safety, self-awareness, emotional regulation, and trauma processing to foster clients’ wholeness and healing. Before grad school, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Economics and International Affairs from the Georgia Institute of Technology and worked in the nonprofit sector and corporate America. Everyone has a story to tell. The way I see it, life is made of the stories we tell ourselves and the stories we tell others. Trauma, depression, anxiety, and substances can influence and interrupt our story, but if we are mindful about who we are and who we want to be, we can put those occurrences in their proper place. They can exist as something that we went through rather than something that defines us. Everyone holds the power to be the person they want to be, no matter what their past, no matter their present. My job is to assist you in creating the present you want for yourself, so you can build the future you deserve. I work with people of all genders, and sexualities. I aim to help people who’ve been traumatized by events and experiences, as well as those who are struggling with depression, anxiety, or recovering from abuse, whether it be from another person, substances, or alcohol. I’d be honored to work with you as you examine and explore yourself and your surroundings in order to write your own story the way you want it to be.

If you are LGBTQ+, polyamorous, kinky, or exploring your identity, it can be exhausting to live in a world that barely tolerates, much less affirms, every part of you. If you feel like you are drowning under the pressure of today’s demands, how are you supposed to find the energy to work on your goals, learn who you are, or take time to enjoy life? You may currently feel alone, unloved, or like you don’t deserve happiness. You might find yourself numb and in emotional pain, wishing people could see and understand your real self. You’re ready to get help, and you want a therapist that specializes in clients like you. I am a gay, transgender clinician dedicated to providing individual therapy to Georgia’s gender, sexuality, and relationship structure minority communities. I am passionate about my community and filling the gap in mental health care many of us experience. My services are also sex-positive, weight-inclusive, neurodiverse-friendly, and culturally-affirming. I offer both in-person and online sessions for your convenience and accessibility. Clients that work with me appreciate positive, gentle masculinity paired with the occasional dad joke. Unlike other therapists who believe that the mind is the key to unlocking everything, I believe in the holistic perspective of working with mind, emotions, and body. I have over 400-hours of certifications on the most scientifically backed approaches towards holistic healing which combines physiology, psychology, biology, neuroscience, and ancient Chinese healing practices. Through my sessions you will learn how the mind-body connection helps open neuropathways to healing. The skillset you learn in session will become a part of your "toolset" on your life- long journey towards happiness and wellbeing. I will not wholly agree with you, or "uh huh" you too much. I will push you, heal you, and help you in your apprenticeship to the truth.
