As a certified Counselor, I can help you understand and process your life challenges, and build a path to a more fulfilling, holistic life. Managing school coursework, social commitments, family obligations, and future life planning can be a lot. College years can be really wonderful but can also become quite overwhelming at times. If you're finding it difficult to manage it all, let's talk. You've set out to better your life by earning a degree and you don't have to struggle through the experience. I work with clients attempting to manage increased feelings of anxiety and depression. Sometimes these feelings are due to the stress of increased demands and sometimes they seem to come out of no where. Partnering with a therapist can help identify your particular struggles and what may help to begin to improve things. Please feel free to check out my website for more information or to contact me directly to talk more.
I came to this field out of a lifetime of curiosity about others and myself. My hope is to help channel your own curiosity and facilitate a journey of self-discovery, understanding, and renewed hope. The grief that comes from loss or change isn’t something to “get over” or “heal” from. Instead, I see grief as an experience that evolves and matures as we learn to adapt to our new reality and integrate these difficult changes into life after loss. None of us are exempt from experiencing grief, mourning, or large life changes. I’ve been there. That’s why I hope you will feel safe bringing me along on your journey. When I am not counseling, I am probably out there dealing with this messy life just like you, training for my next half marathon, at a yoga class or spending time with my family and friends. They would tell you I’m a great listener, caring, and empathetic. They might also share my penchant for bad puns and that I spend an inordinate amount of time planning my next meal. You might also want to know that I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (License # CSW003949) who received her MSW from the Smith College School for Social Work in 2004 and received a BA in Psychology from the University of Vermont. I have worked in various care settings including Inpatient, Outpatient and Managed Care. I have experience treating individuals and couples with a range of issues including eating disorders, marital issues and grief. I offer free 15 minute consultations. Hi, I'm glad you are reaching out for help and to begin the process of self-discovery. Due to COVID, I'm currently providing only telehealth sessions. We can all encounter barriers — often these are out of our awareness — that prevent us from thriving in our careers and in relationships. I believe the therapeutic relationship offers a unique opportunity in the here-and-now to increase our self-awareness and understand the influence of the past on our present behavior. I work collaboratively, empathically and creatively to help you get “unstuck” and to foster meaningful, lasting change in your inner world and in your relationships with others. Over the years, I have worked with people who are experiencing challenges related to college, work, intimate relationships, identity (cultural, racial, sexual, gender, class – and intersections of these), trauma, grief, adjustments or transitions, anxiety and depression. I have worked for many years with graduate and undergraduate students.
Hello! Let's be honest...seeking therapy can be an uncertain and anxiety-filled process whether you have never worked with a counselor before or have had multiple bad experiences leaving you feeling guarded and hopeless. Each client has different needs and you deserve counseling that is tailored specifically to you. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia. I currently hold an Educational Specialist’s Degree (Ed.S.) in Counselor Education and a Master’s Degree (M.S.) in Clinical Psychology. I have extensive experience working in the counseling field for over 10 years where I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults receiving services for behavioral mental health and substance abuse in a variety of settings including outpatient, inpatient, and semi independent residential treatment facilities. Specifically, I have worked with clients diagnosed with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, attention-deficit hyperactivity, and psychotic disorders as well as those struggling with behavioral and emotional distress, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, sleep difficulties, and more. I particularly enjoy working with students and faculty to help them thrive during transitions. Because therapy is not a one-size-fits-all solution, I use an integrative approach and pull from various theoretical orientations (person-centered, solution-focused, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal process) to ensure your treatment is individualized and collaborative. Regardless of the intervention or techniques used, I practice from the fundamental belief that most often people are good and are trying to do their best given their current situation, but may make bad decisions. We are all human and imperfect… and worthy of love and compassion. This includes you. I am part of the Path referral network, which means that when you reach out, my team will get back to you quickly to schedule our first session. Through Path, I am in-network for most commercial insurances, and the average cost of a session for clients who use their insurance is less than $30.

My practice is designed to support students who are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, or the challenges of navigating new phases in life. Whether it’s the pressure of academic or family expectations, managing cultural tensions, or struggling with uncertainty about the future, I understand how these issues can make even day-to-day tasks feel heavy and consuming. Many of my clients find themselves caught in cycles of overthinking, self-doubt, or feeling stuck between different identities and responsibilities. As a first-generation immigrant and veteran, I bring both lived experience and clinical insight to the work I do. I specialize in supporting immigrants and children of immigrants who are balancing complex cultural dynamics while trying to succeed academically, socially, and personally. My goal is to help students like you break free from the weight of these internal and external pressures, and move toward a life that feels grounded and self-directed. Together, we’ll create a plan that is realistic, culturally responsive, and tailored to your goals. If you’re ready to explore new ways of coping, build confidence, and feel more in control of your path forward, I’m here to offer support, insight, and tools to help you thrive.
My passion centers around guiding clients throughout the journey of life while assisting them in the cultivation of their dreams, ambitions, and goals. My approach to treatment begins through a compassionate lens of “person-in-environment”, the idea that an individual, couple, or family cannot be understood fully without respect for the various aspects of their social, familial, temporal, spiritual, economic, and physical environments. I enjoy working with a variety of populations: late-adolescents, young adults & adults, LGBTQ+, and executive professionals dealing with anxiety, depression, anger, grief & loss, trauma, and life-transitional issues. I also embrace working with men’s issues, high-achievers/perfectionists, and healthcare providers. As an African-American therapist I hold a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life and empowering people of African ancestry through advocacy, human services delivery, and research. In both my personal and professional life, I am cultivating a mindfulness practice. Practicing mindfulness has allowed me to intimately connect with the present moment thereby enhancing my relationship between mind-body, with loved ones, and with nature. I find incorporating mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral interventions including Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Based CBT (M-CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to enhance the therapeutic process by cultivating non-judgemental awareness, compassion, and purpose. I apply these principles to the therapeutic relationship by cultivating a warm, non-judgmental environment, allowing clients to feel safe in connecting with the most intimate parts of themselves so that they may begin the healing process. My therapeutic philosophy incorporates trauma-informed approaches to therapy. Often times out of necessity, survivors of trauma need to disconnect from themselves (mind & body) to survive the most difficult and horrific experiences of their lives. Using this lens, my hope is to assist clients in healing the fractures of trauma by re-establishing the connection between their minds and bodies. In my personal life I am a husband, brother, and devoted dog-parent to my, pitbull-boxer mix, Maple. Georgia has been my home for over 16 years now but I still consider myself a native Chicagoan. During my spare time, hobbies I enjoy include: coaching & playing lacrosse, video games, weightlifting, and caring for my Bonsai tree collection. I offer a limited amount of reduced fee appointments to clients who cannot comfortably afford to pay the full fee for services. Isom E. White, LCSW is seeing clients in our Smyrna / Vinings location.

Working with a psychologist should be a positive and beneficial experience. Not only do I believe in supporting my clients through successes and challenges, I love my work and am very dedicated to those I work with. In my practice, I specialize in providing comprehensive psychological assessments and therapy with individuals. I conduct comprehensive evaluations, aimed at evaluating possible learning disorders, attention regulation concerns (ADHD), dyslexia, processing deficits, and behavioral/emotional issues. My assessments are very thorough, as my ultimate goal is to paint a clear picture of strengths and weaknesses, allowing me to provide highly personalized recommendations. My treatment approach is cognitive-behavioral (CBT), coupled with collaboration, warmth, and respect. Presenting concerns include anxiety, executive functioning weaknesses, depression, adjustment, behavior management, and addressing academic concerns. My hope for therapy is to produce lasting change, including coping with stressors, addressing challenges, and resolving presenting concerns.
You may be seeking therapy to help remove or change issues which are causing you discomfort. In addition to therapy helping you cope and reduce your distress, the process of self-discovery within the therapeutic relationship can lead to an increased understanding and acceptance of yourself. It can also lead to an expansion of comfort with all aspects of yourself. I am a clinical psychologist with 30 years’ experience working with adults, young adults, and couples in a variety of settings including private practice, hospitals, and outpatient medical clinics. I have provided therapy to patients in primary care clinics (e.g., neurology, cardiology, ob/gyn, and oncology). I work with clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substances, trauma, medical concerns, or relationship difficulties. My approach is strength-based and grounded in the belief that all people are using their best skills to address the demands and challenges in their lives. I focus on being curious and nonjudgmental as I explore areas of an individual’s current functioning, those which are effective in addressing daily challenges as well as those which can interfere with effective functioning. I am also certified in EMDR which I tailor to the individual needs of my clients. Your life experiences have influenced your emotional beliefs and decisions. You use these thoughts, emotions, and deep beliefs as you interact with others and with your world. You may respond to situations in your life in ways which seem, on the surface, to be confusing or make no sense. Addressing this confusion and discomfort is an act of courage. Throughout the therapy process, we will examine these areas. My experience has been that this exploration will lead you to develop increased self-compassion, self-awareness, and self-acceptance. From this place of mindfulness, new choices and decisions emerge which will allow you to experience greater fulfillment in your life. It is a privilege for me to join clients in their exploration of themselves and their world. I look forward to working with you to investigate and discover all of who you are.
