I primarily work with individuals struggling with compulsive behavior, including sex/porn addiction, codependency, internet/social media addiction, and problem spending/debting. Addiction is meant to make you feel less. It provides temporary numbing for lifelong pain. You feel trapped, depressed, angry, anxious, guilty, and afraid when you can't stop. Recovering from compulsive behavior, though not easy, is possible and has been accomplished many times. But it does require a complete change in beliefs and attitude, along with how to deal with life and its problems. Getting out of your head and taking action is the next indicated step. Listen to your mind and body - it's time to stop treating yourself so badly. I can help you learn to help yourself. You can become your own best advocate. All are welcome in my office, including those from BIPOC and LGBTQIA communities.

OMG! This college thing is HARD - everything from the application process, to balancing all my assignments and social life and different professors and roommates and my parents (and...!), to figuring out the best major and then actually trying to get a job applying what I've learned. Feel familiar? If the stress, anxiety, worry, and decisions you're juggling are overwhelming you and you are not functioning at your best level, maybe it's time to check out some other ways of managing all that's going on. In a very relaxed and safe space, you can meet with someone whose many years of professional experience guiding students through their major transitions are shared in a comfortable living room decor where jeans are the dress code. We will work as partners to discover and expand your strengths and resources so that you can move in the direction you want to go. And you will come to understand that "therapy" is not about fixing something that's broken but developing the strategies to make the most of what's within and around you. Hope to see you soon!

As a college student or mid-career professional, trauma is the last thing you want to talk about. You wake up and take care of yourself. You go to class, go to work, clean your apartment, take care of your dog, go to the gym. You’re doing more than surviving- by many definitions, you are thriving! However, most people don’t know your story. A part of you feels grateful for your life, but another part wonders, "How would life be different if the (trauma) never happened to me?" You’re ready to let go of shame and guilt. You’re ready to transform trauma into a tool for meaningful change. You’re ready to renew your life. I encourage you to email me, or visit my website to learn more and schedule a free 20-minute phone consultation: www.RenewTherapyGA.com/get-started Do you have insurance? I am a licensed therapist with 7 years of experience in the field, and have worked with a diverse range of clients. My clinical style is a mixture of client centered and existentialism, and I believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can authentically explore your thoughts and feelings. We will take a therapeutic journey towards mental and emotional wellness where I will help nurture an understanding of your challenges and support you in developing strategies to overcome them.
College life can be exciting, overwhelming, and everything in between. I understand the unique stressors that come with being a college student—academic pressure, life transitions, relationships, identity exploration, and balancing it all. As a former college student myself, I bring both personal understanding and professional experience into the work we do together. I have experience working with young adults ages 18–25 and strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard and understood. My approach is collaborative and compassionate, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and person-centered modalities. I believe therapy should meet you where you are and honor your individual experiences and strengths. I would love to support you as you navigate life’s challenges, build resilience, and begin healing the parts of you that need care and attention. You don’t have to do this alone.

Live and Thrive Counseling is my private practice in the community of Carrollton, Georgia. My office is close to the downtown area, but given the covid-19 changes in our daily living practices, my sessions are now fully online. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults that are struggling with depression, anxiety, poor body image, life transitions, self esteem issues, and trauma. As a registered yoga teacher (E-RYT 200) and a licensed professional counselor, I enjoy using the cognitive behavioral modality, given its heavy emphasis on mindfulness and cognitive restructuring. In addition to CBT concepts, sessions often include breathing exercises and relaxation strategy practice that the client can eventually learn to practice on his or her own to promote positive self care and healthy coping skills.
