Therapists for college students near University of Minnesota
At BattleRobin Counseling, we harness the power of games and storytelling to foster social skills, confidence, and genuine connection. Our specialized individual and group therapy sessions are designed for those seeking to overcome life's challenges and build meaningful relationships with themselves and others. We believe that the narratives we craft about our identities and purposes shape our experiences and approach to life. Our mission is to empower you to redefine your self-narrative and embark on your own hero's journey. Let us help you unlock your potential and navigate your unique path with confidence and clarity. In our Roll for Growth group, we use the game Dungeons & Dragons to help those experiencing social anxiety, isolation, loneliness, and confusion about building lasting relationships. Therapeutically Applied Role-Playing Game (TA-RPG) groups integrate therapy skills and processing into gameplay and group discussions. Group members explore their personal challenges through the characters they play, working on barriers to living well and relating authentically. They are encouraged to take valued actions in character and to translate these in-game experiences into their everyday lives. The group fosters self-awareness, self-identity, social skills, flexible thinking, and valued action. Individual therapy services are also available and tailored to each client’s clinical, cultural, and personal needs. Dr. Allison Battles approaches therapy from an integrative, culturally sensitive perspective, helping clients explore their self-understanding and community connections to live a more authentic, values-driven life. Cultural humility is central to our clinical care, and Dr. Battles specializes in working with LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, religiously diverse individuals, military personnel, and veterans. She focuses on aiding those recovering from trauma and chronic stress, with expertise in healing complex PTSD, attachment-based traumas, and moral injury. BattleRobin Counseling is committed to community engagement, striving to provide greater access to mental health information and resources. We offer training and consultation services for therapeutic, educational, coaching, and gaming professionals, enabling more individuals to benefit from the life-enriching power of games and storytelling.

I'm Julie TenBrook, PHMNP. I'm the owner of Open Minds. Open Minds symbolizes acceptance, on my part, of who you are without judgement. It, also, symbolizes the opening of your mind to change and healing. Being in college is a time of rapid growth. This can be hard. Figuring out how to navigate school, new relationships, new routines and define who you are as a young adult can be stressful. If you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and anxious, I can help. Treatment is tailored to what you need. It is usually multi-modal and not "just" medications or "just" therapy. Everyone's needs are different and we can design a treatment plan that fits you.
My goal as your therapist is to provide the best service I can through a personally tailored approach. I’ve had the privilege of working with people ages 3 to 105. I have helped people navigate the various stages of life to improve their overall mental health. I am a strong believer in meeting those I serve where they are. Whether you are experiencing loss, crisis, anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, a life transition, parent-child challenges, family conflict, or need a sounding board, I am here to be a support. I am licensed psychotherapist in New York, Florida, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Utah, and Ohio. I am also a Certified Wellness Counselor. I have been in the mental health field for over 10 years. I have helped adults, children, couples, teens, older adults, and families navigating difficult situations, improve relationships, and thrive. I utilize a variety of techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Person-Centered Therapy, narrative therapy, stress management, family therapy, couples therapy, mood management, anxiety reduction, empowerment techniques, and work/life balance interventions. Wellness is the act of practicing healthy habits on a daily basis to attain better outcomes. Thriving instead of just surviving. It is an honor to be a support to you.
Hi!! My name is Melissa Urbanek. I am a therapist that specializes in working with children, teens, college students and young adults. My practice is telehealth only that serves clients in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Hello neurodivergent folks! If you've been diagnosed or curious about ADHD, Autism, OCD, or identify as a sensitive person, welcome! My clinical background is in disordered eating and body acceptance from a body liberation lense. I am passionate about radical self acceptance, self compassion, and human rights. I am the ideal therapist for you if you: can meet during the day, swear, want consistency, and if you want to strengthen your instincts. Feeling our feelings is sometimes uncomfortable, so I believe in collaborating with you to help you remember your wise, resilient self is safe. My special interests include ADHD, AUDHD, anxiety, Intuitive Eating, life transitions, fat liberation, and somatic work. I practice therapy from a decolonized lens. Prioritizing your needs and creating a safe space for you is always my first goal. Starting therapy can feel uncomfortable, especially if you're used to handling things on your own. I want to set a tone that feels genuine, relaxed, and goal oriented where we develop real solutions to your real problems. I have experience working with adolescents and adults facing stress, relationship problems, anger, and major life changes. I work especially well with someone who may feel stuck, isolated, overwhelmed, or perhaps even unsure where to begin? Therapy with me is focused on helping you move forward.
If you've been living in the ADHD or Anxious side of Tik-Tok, seeing yourself in every video, you might be asking yourself how you're going to get through the semester. You've got a lot on your plate, you want it ALL! You're smart, funny, driven. And sometimes that gets messy. Are you falling behind, missing home, staying up too late? Maybe your roommate or your SO just doesn't understand what it's like to be you right now. You and your peers have been through a lot: life-altering pandemic, active-shooter drills, social unrest, ugly politics, and more. It's a lot. I provide a supportive space where you can build skills and self-compassion. I offer fully online therapy across Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, Vermont, and Virginia — perfect for college students studying remotely or balancing life’s demands. Call, text, or email me today. Or visit my website to schedule a quick chat to see if we're a good match - it's free and a great way to see how I can help you live your best life.
I am a board-certified psychiatrist and Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. For me, being a physician is more than a profession—it is a vocation to help indviduals flourish. My practice is devoted to students and young adults seeking thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care that extends beyond symptom relief. I provide comprehensive evaluations that consider medical, nutritional, lifestyle, and psychological factors—including laboratory testing when clinically appropriate—to identify the contributors to emotional and cognitive health. I also specialize in evidence-based de-prescribing for patients who wish to reduce or discontinue psychiatric medications for anxiety, attention difficulties, or substance use disorders. My approach is guided by precision, humility, and restraint: using the least intensive intervention necessary while drawing upon the full breadth of evidence-based medicine. Depending on each patient's needs and goals, I integrate psychotherapy, nutrition, lifestyle medicine, exercise, targeted supplementation, and, when appropriate, carefully selected medications into a personalized treatment plan. In addition to my clinical work, I have presented internationally on psychiatric deprescribing and medical ethics. My work has been recognized with awards from the American Psychiatric Association, the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions, the American Psychoanalytic Association, and other leading professional organizations. I am the Founder & Medical Director of Verigrate Health. I am licensed to serve patients in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Lousiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin.
I appreciate the courage it takes to seek help. I specialize in working with young adults to gain mastery over their problems. I work with you at your own pace. My therapy approach combines cognitive behavioral therapy, client centered, reality, focusing and family systems therapy.
Embodied Journeys is an independent, private therapy practice in Bellingham, WA serving clients throughout Washington, Minnesota, and British Columbia. We help folks work through the stress and rigors of daily life, including the heavy demands of college, that might kick up unhealthy habits like erratic sleep, problematic eating, binge drinking, and procrastination. We work from a feminist, anti-capitalist, anti-diet, and social justice perspective that includes lots of self-compassion. Bottom line: We trust your internal wisdom and believe you deserve to live fully without exhaustion, shame, guilt, and resentment.
As a queer therapist, I believe there is no one “right way” to live our lives. This is the same for therapy, there is no “right way.” I believe we all have the power to harness our strengths and find the path that gives us the most meaning and purpose. Clients are the experts in their own lives – each person has the tools and skills to solve their problems, though sometimes may need some outside help to find those tools and learn those skills. Together we can create a therapeutic alliance that is conducive towards self-discovery, growth, and fulfilling your potential while honoring your history, resiliency, values, and beliefs. I completed my Masters in Social Work at Loyola University Chicago. I am working towards being a Certified Sex Therapist (CST) through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT). I specialize in working with the LGBTQ+ community, gender diverse, the consensual non-monogamy (CNM) community, and I am kink/BDSM-affirming.
We specialize in providing trauma, sex, body and LGBTQIA+ affirmative psychotherapy to those who feel lost and unsatisfied, and want a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships. We're here to help you slow down, sort through the pressure, and figure out how the hell to take care of yourself and go after the life you want while remaining true to who you are. It doesn’t have to be so hard. We are not distant, blank faced analysts, but instead are responsive and collaborative in our approach. Together, we will untangle the knots created by anxiety, depression, trauma, family, eating, and relationship problems that leave you feeling disconnected from yourself, your body, and your emotions.
I specializing in supporting individuals through major life transitions, including the transition to college. College can be an exciting, new thing, but it can also be full of anxiety and worry as well. I know how hard it can be to suddenly find yourself on your own for the first time and have no idea what you are doing. I know how hard it can be to feel as if you need to have your whole life figured out at the ripe age of 20. I know how hard it can be to switch majors and feel behind. I love to meet clients where they are at while slowly pushing them to where they want to be. I have a wide background in trauma and anxiety and offer evidence based practices such as EMDR. I provide individual therapy to adolescents and young adults. My approach centers building connections, offering compassion and staying curious about who you are in the past, present and future; helping you become the author to your own story. I want you to feel seen and heard throughout our time working together. Although I welcome working with a range of client concerns, my areas of special focus include navigating disordered eating, eating disorders, body image, shame and perfectionism, identity exploration and anxiety management. I practice from an intersectional feminist, holistic style approach. Many of my clients are in the early stages of exploring their relationship with identity, food and their bodies. Like all of us, I am a work-in-progress but I constantly strive to be culturally and gender affirming and responsive in my daily practice. Prior to becoming a licensed therapist, I worked in community based non-profits throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota. I remain passionate about advocating and supporting youth and families during their healing and growth journeys, as well as promoting access to care.
