I come to this work from a place of deep respect for each individual’s story and path. I believe in creating an inclusive, welcoming space where you will feel comfortable exploring both your strengths and your challenges. I have a collaborative approach and value being direct, supportive, responsive to feedback. I have a background in Women’s Studies and literature and creative writing and may incorporate creative and expressive activities such as storytelling and reading other people’s stories as part of our work. I have experience working with a range of issues and populations (see below). I am passionate about women’s and LGBTQI issues and have extensive experience working with gender expansive and transgender individuals along the gender continuum. Fundamentally, I believe the relationship between an individual and his/her/their therapist matters much more than the specific techniques employed. My primary focus early in therapy is developing a relationship where my clients trust me and feel comfortable. I work with individuals in an open and honest dialogue and help individuals increase resiliency and coping skills through identifying their strengths. Primarily I provide individual counseling on a weekly basis. Many clients will be able to work through a particular issue or issues in a brief time, but I am also able to work with clients over a longer span of time.

me: In a relational, humanistic, and conversational style, and through an attachment-oriented lens, I am focused on harnessing the powerful dynamic of the therapeutic relationship, in order to help individuals locate within themselves a sense of meaning and purpose in the here and now. I am focused on developing each client’s ability to maintain internal validity and positive self-regard, in order to reduce self-shame, self-judgement, and self-harm. you: While I work with individual adults of all ages, most of my clients tend to be 25-45, and coming to therapy to work through a variety of human challenges and stressors often associated with complications that occur in the life-stage transitions from adolescence to early adulthood and early adulthood into middle age. For many of us, these life-stage transitions are often extended and/or delayed, leading to feelings of pscyho-emotional paralysis and “stuckness” in repeated patterns of behavior. My practice is also further specialized in working with performing artists and other creative/artistic professionals. The intersectionality of psycho-emotional health and creative identity/artistic process is an area of experience and particular interest to me. Having trained and worked professionally as an actor, prior to earning a master’s degree in clinical social work, I am deeply focused on using the shared language of artistic development to help other artists utilize the many tools and skills they’ve already developed for self-reflection and craft honing as artists, in order to help them create growth, change, and fulfillment in their personal and professional lives. Although many of my clients meet diagnostic criteria for depression, trauma, and anxiety, I aim to see people beyond the diagnosis and view them as the whole human beings they are. us: Together, we will have a meaningful relationship intended to support and foster your personal growth, resilience, healing, and ability to create internal validity, as well as meaning and purpose in the moment. Our relationship exists within the context and framework of weekly, or bi-weekly, 45-minute conversations, focused on examining all aspects of how your pscyho-emotional health and wellbeing correspond to your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. No human is broken. We are all operating in the exact way the human system was intended to operate, by adapting; sometimes for the better, and other times to our own detriment. We are all the logical conclusion of the sum of our total experiences. Therefore, we will work jointly to piece together your narrative in a way that connects the total sum of your experiences to your present thoughts, feelings, and behavioral patterns, in order to learn to move forward, create change, and become the future self that is still yet unrealized.

I specialize in supporting college students who are navigating the many transitions that come with this stage of life. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by academic pressure, questioning your direction, adjusting to new environments, or trying to balance relationships, you don’t have to figure it out alone. My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical. I aim to create a space where you can speak openly without feeling judged or misunderstood. Together, we’ll explore what’s going on in your life, build tools to manage stress and emotions, and help you move toward the version of yourself and your life that feels most authentic and meaningful. I’m especially passionate about working with college students because I remember how complex and overwhelming that time can be. My goal is to be the kind of therapist I wish I had when I was in college; someone who truly listens, understands the challenges of transitional life experiences, and offers steady support while you figure things out at your own pace. Hi, I'm Courtney. As a therapist, I strive to create an environment of safety, curiosity, discovery, and courage for everyone seeking therapeutic services and I look forward to collaborating with people in creative ways to reach therapeutic goals. I strongly believe in the power of strength-based and client-centered practice and am devoted to creating opportunities for the people around me to achieve their own goals and exceed their own expectations for success. I show up as myself in the therapy room – integrating humor, storytelling, and metaphors. My holistic approach allows for clients to grow and learn more about themselves in new ways. Therapy with me is a judgment-free zone to help you gain perspective and understanding of your emotions, coping skills, and relational patterns. I recognize that therapy is a healing process, not a quick fix. I focus on the therapeutic relationship as a tool for helping you grow and heal at your own pace, and in a way that feels right for you. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Currently, my clients are primarily young adults. I hope that through working together, you can find self-compassion, curiosity, and healing through enriching your life and relationships. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and have 7 years of experience. I have a Masters’ degree in Counseling Psychology from The University of Denver, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from The State University of New York, at Oswego. I have lived in many beautiful states during my schooling and training from New York, to North Carolina, Colorado, New Jersey, and finally back to my hometown of Buffalo, New York. I love spending time with my family, friends, and dog. I love to spend time outdoors, ski, listen to music, cook new recipes, and travel. I am accepting new clients at this time, via telehealth services. I am an out-of-networker provider. I can provide you with a statement at the end of each month that you can submit for reimbursement. I look forward to meeting with you.

Often in therapy we work to bring what's unconscious into consciousness, which can create more agency, freedom, and choice. As both a psychotherapist and writer, I believe in the power of finding connections between that which is seemingly disconnected in order to uncover a deeper understanding of oneself and the way one relates to others and the world. I specialize in treating trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, interpersonal relational difficulties, and life transitions. Using a psychodynamic framework and relational lens, my work is informed by both psychoanalytic theories and Buddhist psychology. I often draw from Internal Family Systems framework and specialize in psychedelic integration psychotherapy. I received my psychotherapeutic education from New York University, The National Institute for the Psychotherapies, and Nalanda Institute’s Contemplative Psychotherapy Program. I hold an MSW from NYU, an MFA from The New School, and a BA from Boston College. For more info: alipowerpsychotherapy.com.

Living with OCD or anxiety can be exhausting. The constant doubt, intrusive thoughts, avoidance and compulsions can make everyday life feel overwhelming— like it's running your life instead of you. I specialize in helping adults break free from OCD, perfectionism, and anxiety disorders. I understand how isolating these struggles can feel, and I provide a compassionate, collaborative space where you can feel understood while learning practical tools to understand anxiety and move toward what truly matters to you. If you're struggling with OCD, we’ll use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard treatment for OCD. Together we'll build a concrete treatment plan, and with steady support, you’ll gradually face fears, and reduce compulsions, building confidence and learning that you can handle uncertainty without relying on rituals. To address anxiety and perfectionism, I integrate CBT and ACT techniques, so you can develop a healthier mindset and respond to difficult thoughts with more flexibility and self-compassion. Therapy is active and goal-oriented, but always grounded in warmth and respect. I’d love to support you in this process.

Welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adults navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma, particularly experiences related to family of origin and attachment. While I work with adults of all ages, I have a special interest in supporting emerging adults - including college, graduate, and medical students - as they manage the emotional and relational challenges that can arise during these stages of life. I support clients in addressing current life challenges while also seeking to answer questions about why these challenges exist in the first place. I do this through a collaborative, relational, and trauma-informed approach that blends deeper insight with practical support. Drawing from psychodynamic and attachment-based work, along with CBT, DBT, and mindfulness, I help clients understand patterns, regulate emotions, and build skills that support meaningful, lasting change. Starting therapy can feel uncertain, and it’s completely normal to have questions or mixed emotions. Please know you don’t have to figure it out on your own. I aim to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and understood. If you’re considering therapy, I invite you to reach out to see if we would be a good fit.

Depression and anxiety can strike at any age. But understanding the developmental challenges our clients are facing, regardless of what life stage they are in, is fundamental to our approach. College students face an enormous array of stressors as they are learning to live independently, separating from home and family, figure out who they are and what they want to be, establishing or navigating new social groups, starting/searching for/ending significant romantic relationships, managing heavy workloads, or simply dealing with the pressure to excel. We are here to help you navigate these very real stressors, to empathize and to teach you skills to address the depression and/or anxiety these stressors can cause.

I will collaborate with you to create a space where we can work together to better understand you. I look forward to unpacking this baggage with you in a safe, supportive place. No worries - There is room for it all. Reach out and we can take this next step together.

During your life, you may experience difficult periods of adjustment related to major life changes and/or losses, difficulty in relationships, and/or cultural/social differences in environmental contexts. These periods in your life may lead to or be related to general difficulty coping with life circumstance, depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues. I provide a holistic approach to working with clients striving to understand them from an intrapsychic, interpersonal, and sociocultural perspective. In working with you, I endeavor to understand how your personality, relationships, and sociocultural identities and environmental contexts interact to affect your psychological functioning and wellbeing. Personal development through counseling/psychotherapy comes from feeling secure in a relational context to explore one's issues. Primary to this process is the establishment of a nurturing therapeutic relationship/alliance. In establishing a safe environment, I will assist you in experiencing more satisfying attitudes, relationships, and feeling more empowered. A major aspect of my work involves understanding how racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity affects one's psychosocial functioning. Understanding your sociocultural identities and how they inform and affect your life assists me in determining what interventions and techniques will be most appropriate for you.
