You know how sometimes we examine our situation and wonder how it is that we got here? There's so much going on in the world today. In examining our current state we can experience a mixture of emotions: fear, frustration, and a longing for something different. This is normal. However, sometimes these feelings can become more overwhelming than we would like, and they begin to affect us in different areas of our life such as work, family, and relationships. If you are struggling with anxiety or dealing with a major event in your life, I can help. You have choices when it comes to your career, relationships, and family. I will speak with you openly about your feelings and help you to gain new perspectives and solutions. I work closely with people facing various challenges, including how to deal with grief, a complicated relationship, family, academics, and societal problems. My approach to healing combines traditional therapies with holistic approaches, while drawing on the individual’s spiritual practices and developing new coping strategies.

Thank you for reviewing my profile and see if we could be a good fit! My experience includes working with individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, self-esteem, and relationship issues. Additionally, I work with many clients dealing with career or school related stress. Prior to my work as a Mental Health Counselor, I worked in the corporate world of fashion, which gave me a deep understanding of how a fast-paced and demanding work environment can affect one’s well-being. I believe the most important factor is the relationship between myself and my clients. A genuine, trusting relationship is so critical for this work. My initial training was at Northwestern University, and was centered in a psychodynamic approach; however, I have additional training in, Mindfulness, EMDR, CBT, and IFS approaches. This allows me to pull from multiple techniques to do what is best for each client and their goals. I work collaboratively with individuals. I want to hear your input as we devise a plan on how to reach your goals. You can expect me to check in often on how you feel therapy is going, and use feedback to help modify our approach as needed. Looking forward to meeting you and seeing if we could be a good fit!

I believe therapy means making you feel deeply known and accepted, and by creating a warm and secure bond opens the space for long-lasting, personal growth. I appreciate how some old habits you have picked up at an earlier point may no longer serve you now. The process of understanding yourself with compassion and learning new ways of being in the world isn't always easy, but I'll be with you every step of the way. Together we can find and solve the "stuck points" holding you back from living a full and meaningful life. I work with individual adults focusing on mood and personality issues. As your therapist, my goal is to help you live up to the best version of yourself. My approach centers on harnessing your unique strengths in building the bridge between where you are and where you want to be. I take an integrative approach that reflects my dual training in transference-based theory such as Schema and evidence-based theory such as CBT. Thus, my treatment balances the exploration of experiential life with actionable change.

My approach reflects my empathic, nonjudgmental, and compassionate style. I collaborate with and empower my clients to harness or reclaim their inner strength and power. Therapy is an invitation to be messy, to dive into the unknown, to shed layers and come home to your truest self and aspirations with a sense of ease and belonging. Therapy is a safe, compassionate, non-judgemental space to explore, practice and play with challenging emotions, life patterns and memories that have shaped our internal world. Terceira is a New York University trained psychotherapist that specializes in treating anxiety, depression, complex grief, trauma, identity, career and life transitions. They serve a diverse clientele that ranges across race, age, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and spiritual backgrounds. Terceira has experience serving survivors of various traumas and PTSD both globally and in New York City. They also have supervised private therapists as well as Masters of Social Work students from Columbia, NYU, Fordham, and Hunter University in their clinical studies. They blend their intersectional, trauma-informed lenses with rich somatic (body based) approaches, mindfulness techniques and EMDR (Eye Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing) to build upon the resiliency of their clients’ healing. They believe in orchestrating a dialogue between the body and the mind for a deeper release of past sufferings to be able to be in the present. Through integrative therapy, Terceira hopes their clients find they have individual choices, agency, and empowerment in their communication, relationships, boundaries, identities, and self-worth.

Experience Psychotherapy is a psychotherapy practice grounded in the understanding that working with experience in the present moment is a profoundly powerful building block for promoting personal growth and health. I work with people collaboratively to develop the skills to navigate life and relationships with more confidence and flexibility. College is often a time in life of great growth and transition. This can be exciting, but also stressful and disorienting. Therapy can be a place to organize ourselves in the midst of these stressful periods. Michael can work with plans that have out of network coverage.
