The college years are a time of self discovery and challenge. Opening yourself up to new people, experiences and ways of thinking can be both invigorating and daunting. Being away from the known can feel overwhelming. What I can offer you is an opportunity to explore underlying patterns of thought, behavior and communication that may inhibit your ability to meet your own expectations of yourself during this unique time in your life. Together we will work to identify and overcome the obstacles that have interfered with your ability to resolve distressing issues. Together we will calm your anxious mind, alleviate symptoms of depression, increase self-awareness, identify strengths and empower you to move your life in a more positive direction.

We have many years of experience working with young adults, especially those transitioning into college and those getting ready to launch into the real world.
Life transitions are my specialty and college is full of them! The pressures that students face can include feeling overwhelmed by college responsibilities, parent expectations, time management, career confusion, as well as "adulting" in general. Even social life can be a stressor. Some of my clients have found that past experiences or traumas have become obstacles to reaching their goals. It took many years of college to get where I am at, so I get that the struggle is real! I am available via teletherapy (video or phone), in office sessions, and offer text/email support as needed. I am here for you throughout the year - not just when school is in session. Call me today for a free consultation!

I help folks ages 18+ in NY, CT, OR, and FL who are struggling with depression, anxiety, relationships, and life transitions. I am a compassionate and nonjudgmental therapist who prioritizes creating a space in which my clients feel “held,” heard, and helped. My approach is personalized, collaborative, and tailored to each person’s unique needs and goals. My practice is strengths-based, trauma-informed, and utilizes a range of techniques including awareness of sensations in the body, narrative interventions, cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies, and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy. I believe everyone has the capacity to heal and that meaningful transformations take place in the context of safe and supportive relationships, when we feel seen, understood, and accepted unconditionally. Together, we will process your thoughts, feelings, and experiences to reduce suffering and increase joy, fulfillment, and success. The bottom line: I meet you where you are—with patience, warmth, kindness, and insight. I will assist in identifying and strengthening your own inner resources and wisdom, so we can work more effectively with challenges and pain on the road to a more satisfying life. I operate under the assumption that every human wakes up each day and does the best job they know how to do. By creating an environment of safety and unconditional positive regard, my hope is for you to stop just surviving the day-to-day and start living. I believe firmly in the healing experience of coming to therapy and feeling seen, heard, and accepted for exactly who you are. Together we will journey towards authenticity, self-identified goals, and deconstructing painful narratives and patterns, all while firmly maintaining self-compassion. I graduated from St. John Fisher with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have worked with a vast range of individuals throughout my career, including but not limited to college students, survivors of sexual harassment and abuse, and marginalized identities. I have experience working with addiction, complex trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, adjusting to life transitions, interpersonal violence, guilt and shame, suicidal ideation, and personality disorders. I have formal training in Polyvagal Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. And while I am confident in utilizing these evidence-based interventions in my clinical work, I also firmly believe in the healing power of two individuals holding space together and creating safety, which will be the foundation of every session. Together we can explore who you truly are rather than who the world tells you you should be and push back on the internalized systems that keep us trapped in spirals of shame and pain. It would be an honor to share this journey with you.
Hello and Welcome! Whether you're new to mental health care or have tried it out already, making the decision to seek care is an important investment in your overall wellbeing. In my private practice, I care for concerns that are common among people in university settings, including anxiety, depression, stress, sleep, and self esteem. I provide both medication management and psychotherapy services. In psychotherapy, I also work with people on all kinds of issues that may not have a specific diagnosis to go with them, but which still can have a big impact on wellbeing, like navigating life transitions, relationships, family, setting goals, and managing the stress of the world and of being a student or university employee! My practice strives to be open and welcoming for people of all backgrounds and lived experiences. Therapy is most effective when it is collaborative, grounded in reality, and focused on meaningful progress. I bring an integrative, strengths-based, and goal-oriented approach to our work together. Whether you are navigating a specific life transition, managing chronic stress, or working through deeper emotional hurdles, my aim is to help you uncover what is working, identify what needs to change, and build a practical roadmap to get there. My Approach Strengths-Based & Collaborative: We will focus heavily on identifying and leveraging your natural strengths and resiliencies—finding the things you are already good at and using them as a foundation for growth. Solution-Focused & Goal-Oriented: We work together to figure out what needs to change, why those changes matter to you, and how to make them happen in a sustainable way. Flexible & Balanced: Therapy should meet you where you are. I am comfortable giving you the time and space needed to develop insight, motivation, and clear goals. At the same time, I am not afraid to gently encourage change, support healthy risk-taking, and help hold you accountable to your own aspirations. Contextual & Systemic: Problems do not occur in a vacuum. Your experiences are shaped by your relationships, your environment, and society at large—especially where systemic oppression or social barriers are present. Background & Experience With over two decades of clinical experience across a wide array of backgrounds and challenges, I have spent my career supporting individuals through profound adversity. Crisis & Complex Care: Extensive background working with individuals experiencing extreme poverty, homelessness, and severe mental health conditions. Veterans Care: Currently serving as a Suicide Prevention Coordinator, providing specialized, compassionate care to Veterans at risk. Core Beliefs: I firmly believe that people can change and grow, and that therapy can and should be time-limited. You do not have to carry your challenges alone, and healing happens best when we look at the whole person within their world.
Are you feeling stuck while life is changing around you? Is your head clouded with worry? Are you looking to reconnect with yourself, possibly even to find joy? Together we can we can navigate through these areas of life. If you are someone who has difficulty expressing themselves, art therapy, with talk therapy, can be helpful where words are not enough. Art making can open the door to make meaning out of circumstances that may not make sense. I focus on navigating present challenges, utilizing client’s strengths, needs, and values.
I work with you to not just understand what's going on, but also to develop tools to help. Tools to stop panic attacks, tools to manage depression, tools to get organized and figure out what you want in life. We work together to see what works reliably for you. In addition to talking things through, in session and between sessions sometimes you might be writing, sometimes trying a challenging behavior change, sometimes engaging in mindfulness, and sometimes using visualizations. My aim is for you to feel better, and to know what to do to keep feeling better or help yourself if problems resurface. And I try to work efficiently with you, so you are back to your life (and ending therapy) as soon as makes sense for you. Give me a call to set up an initial (free) conversation, at 303-870-9195.
