Are you "winning" at avoiding uncomfortable feelings and/or the dis-ease of uncertainty with you stuck in mental gymnastics? Are you ruminating about past experiences or disappointments or grabbing onto things to worry about? This may have helped you get through tough times. Now it is time to move into the present, connect your mind and body and take action where you can to move forward toward your goals while aligning your actions with your internal values - the ones your gut lets you know with great insight into your true self. Let's get started to build upon your body-mind connection - pulling your nervous system into today. Research shows that the biggest factor for change and healing in therapy is the relationship between the client and therapist. This relationship benefits when based on safety, trust, collaboration, curiosity, authenticity, unconditional acceptance, cultural competence and clear boundaries. My strengths lie in creating this working alliance with you. You don't have to suffer and try to figure out how to feel better alone any longer. If you feel we are a good fit, let's work together and figure out how to help you take the steps to make the change you want. I believe if you are seeking, you are already on your way to healing, growth and change. You deserve the life you want and even joy along the way! Please do not let finances stop you from reaching out - I have a number of session times I allocate to a sliding scale to allow therapy to be affordable to you.

Hi, I’m Kara! College can bring both exciting opportunities and overwhelming stress. Sometimes past experiences or unresolved trauma make it even harder to manage the pressures of academics, relationships, and figuring out your future. If you’ve ever felt stuck, anxious, or like your emotions are “too much,” you’re not alone. I specialize in trauma therapy using EMDR and Somatic Experiencing, two evidence-based approaches that help your mind and body process painful experiences so you don’t have to stay stuck in the past. My work is also grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and other trauma-informed, attachment-based models. Together, we’ll work to help you understand and manage stress, anxiety, and depression, heal from relationship wounds or painful past experiences, build resilience and expand your capacity to handle life’s ups and downs, and feel more grounded, confident, and connected. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, EMDR Certified, and have completed 3 years of training with the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute. My approach is collaborative, holistic, and tailored to your needs. If you’d like to learn more, I offer a free 20-minute consultation. Reach out by phone or email- I’d love to connect with you.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes therapy should feel safe, human, and a little less intimidating. I offer a warm, down-to-earth space where you can talk openly, at your own pace, without judgment. Together, we’ll focus on what matters most to you and build practical tools for real life. I work by meeting you exactly where you are, taking into account your life, relationships, and environment—not just the problem you’re facing. College can be one of the most exciting—and overwhelming—seasons of life. Between academic pressure, changing friendships, family expectations, relationships, and figuring out who you are, it’s easy to feel stressed, anxious, or unsure of yourself. You don’t have to navigate that alone. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 10 years of experience supporting teens and young adults through life’s transitions. My approach is strength-based and relationship-focused, meaning I see you as more than your stress, anxiety, or struggles. Together, we’ll build on the strengths you already have while developing practical tools to help you manage overwhelming thoughts, regulate emotions, and feel more confident in your decisions. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness strategies to help you better understand your thought patterns, cope with stress, and respond to challenges in healthier ways. My style is laid back, supportive, and collaborative—I want therapy to feel like a safe space where you can be honest, ask hard questions, and explore who you’re becoming without judgment. Whether you’re feeling anxious about school, struggling with motivation, dealing with relationship conflict, navigating self-worth, or simply feeling stuck, I’m here to walk alongside you as you build clarity, resilience, and confidence in this season of life.

Most of the students I work with are figuring out who they are while juggling school, family, friendships, and their future. Many feel the weight of being “the strong one” for everyone else, but behind closed doors they’re tired, anxious, or questioning if they’re enough. Some are navigating being away from home for the first time, carrying family expectations, or balancing the pressure to succeed with the need to just breathe. Others feel out of place on campus and want a space where they don’t have to explain themselves or code-switch. I connect best with young people under 25 who are ready for honest conversations, who value a therapist that will both listen deeply and challenge them to grow. My goal is to give you room to unpack your story, understand your emotions, and figure out how to move through stress, relationships, and identity with more clarity and confidence.

In a world that often values toughness, being a highly sensitive and soft-hearted person can feel like a burden. We might say “yes” when we really mean “no”. And we may feel like we have to act differently to fit in, even if it means putting others before ourselves. Sometimes it can feel tough to find our inner courage, speak up for what we want, and create positive boundaries. This can be especially true when we’re striving for success in our careers, supporting our loved ones emotionally, or navigating big life changes. Through brainspotting, mindfulness, and somatic techniques, we’ll gently uncover the patterns that have kept you feeling stuck and build the self-trust needed to honor your own needs. As you release emotional weight and reconnect with yourself, you’ll cultivate resilience, confidence, and a deeper sense of balance in your life. If you’re ready to embrace your sensitivity, set healthier boundaries, and reconnect with yourself, I’m here to help. Let’s work together to create a life that feels balanced, authentic, and fulfilling. Reach out today to begin your journey toward healing and growth.

Sometimes it's tough to go it alone. It takes a lot of courage to reach out for help and support, whether we're dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, gender identity, sexual orientation, or general life stress. Kudos to you for taking the first step. I work primarily with adolescents and young adults, and together we figure out a plan on how to move through whatever's going on. You know more than you think you do - and we will navigate the challenges together.
