I'm Megan O'Brien, a doctoral-level therapist dedicated to helping adolescents and young adults navigate life's challenges. Are you finding the stresses of transition to university life to be more difficult than you thought? Do you feel lonely in the crowd, unseen? Do you feel that your worth as a human being depends on your academic success or other actions? Do you live in fear, guilt, or shame? Are anxiety and panic attacks a part of your life? Do you deal with trauma, past and/or present, and how it can intrude on life in unexpected ways? You're not alone. Life can be overwhelming. Emotions can be overwhelming. We are here to serve and support you in life's journey when you hit those hard seasons and help you regain your equilibrium. At The Abundant Life Institute, we look at the whole person: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. While our providers are Christian faith-based, we will meet you where you are and respect your wishes in the area of spirituality. We have offices in Athens and Winder, where we can meet with you in-person, or we can meet with you virtually through our Telehealth portal anywhere in GA. We also have a Pastoral Counselor/Christian Counselor and Life Coaches who can meet with you virtually anywhere in the country. Check out our website and meet our team. We would be honored to serve and support you in any way we can.
Thank you for considering me to be part of your journey. My name is Allia (she/her), and for my clients, I provide a safe and healing place to grow. For the past four years, I’ve worked as a therapist and advocate for child and adult survivors of abuse and sexual assault. And through this work, I have honed my skills in helping people through trauma, transitions, self-worth issues, and identity. I work with a wide range of clients and survivors and particularly gravitate towards individuals within the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities and young adults. Each person is different and thus, each treatment plan is individualized to meet that person’s needs. And in working together, I will follow your lead and meet you where you are. I look forward to working together!
Have you ever woke up and thought to yourself, "I can't live like this anymore, I need someone to talk to, I am not motivated on my own?" I am here to help you through any addiction, life, couples, work, school or any other personal struggles you may have to ensure that you receive the daily life of peace, tranquility and relaxation.
Great to meet you! Hi, I’m Angela. I’ve been supporting people through life’s ups and downs for many years, and I believe that we all deserve understanding, kindness, and a space where we can explore what’s really going on for us. I work with individuals, couples, and families — including kids, teens, adults, and seniors — who are facing things like anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD challenges, stress in relationships, or family issues. No matter where you are in your journey, I’m here to help you feel heard and supported as you make healthier choices and create the life you want. A bit about my approach to therapy I bring warmth, openness, and a “we’re in this together” attitude to our work. Clients describe me as understanding, genuine, and easy to talk to — someone who laughs with you, sits with the hard moments, and doesn’t shy away from the tough stuff. We’ll talk it out, make space for the stories you bring, and work through challenges at a pace that feels right for you. My style is solution-oriented and open-minded, and you’ll always be met with respect and curiosity. What you can expect from our first session In our first session, you can expect to feel welcomed and genuinely listened to. We’ll focus on understanding what’s been pulling at you and what you hope to change. You’ll leave with a sense of clarity, some early ideas for what we might explore together, and a feeling that this is a safe space where you can show up as you are. Over time, many people find they feel more confident handling life’s stresses, stronger in their relationships, and better equipped with tools to move forward with purpose and resilience.

Between the 2:00 AM study sessions, the constant pressure to have your life figured out, and the exhaustion of keeping up a 'perfect' digital presence, it’s a lot. If you’re feeling like you’re just vibrating with anxiety or running on manual mode, I see you. I’m Dr. Tinai James, and I help students navigate the messy, non-linear transition of college. My office (and my screen) is a zero-judgment zone where we ditch the clinical "therapist-speak." Whether you're dealing with burnout, relationship drama, or just trying to figure out who you actually are outside of your GPA, let's figure it out together. No couch required—just real talk and actual tools.
Do you find yourself constantly second-guessing what you said, worrying about what others think, or feeling stuck in a cycle of overthinking? Or maybe your childhood seemed normal, yet deep down something still feels off? You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck in old patterns, or carrying the effects of past experiences that still shape your present. You want to feel safer in your body, more grounded in your emotions, and more connected to yourself and others. I work with adults who are ready for meaningful change and want a therapist who brings warmth, clarity, and evidence-based tools to support deep, sustainable healing. With training in EMDR, CBT, DBT, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, I blend evidence-based tools with a deeply client-centered approach. My goal is to help you understand your patterns, regulate your emotions, & reconnect with the strengths you may have lost sight of so you can feel more grounded, empowered, & more like yourself. You might be stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. You might be working really hard to break free from old coping strategies that once helped you survive. Together, we can work to build safety, clarity, and confidence moving forward. I know how hard it is to break out of those patterns.
Many of the students I work with are used to handling things on their own. They're hardworking, care deeply about the people around them and often put a lot of pressure on themselves to keep everything together. From the outside, they may seem like they're doing fine, but inside they're feeling overwhelmed, anxious or unsure of what comes next. If you're looking for a therapist who will listen without judgment, help you make sense of what you're experiencing and work alongside you to create meaningful change, we may be a good fit. You don't have to have everything figured out before you start therapy, just a willingness to show up.
You ever wondered if there was a therapist out there who truly gets you? Who could relate and understand your experiences being different than the normative society? Well look no further! I work with clients navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, and relational struggles. I have a special passion for supporting geeks, gamers, creatives, alternative individuals, neurodivergent, and LGBTQ+ clients who often feel like they don’t quite fit the mold. I use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), along with elements of geek therapy. My clients often come to me struggling with perfectionism, boundary setting, self-esteem, identity, or body image issues, feeling stuck or overwhelmed in a world that doesn’t always make space for who they are. In our work together, we’ll create that space—judgment-free, collaborative, and affirming. Whether you’re battling your inner critic, processing trauma, or just trying to survive in a neurotypical or cis-normative world, I’m here to support your growth, healing, and self-discovery. Therapy doesn’t have to be sterile or detached—we can bring your fandoms, creativity, and passions into the room as tools for healing.

I was a high school teacher and coach for 14 years before becoming a counselor so I work well with students and young people. Many feel pressure to make their time at college "the best time of their lives" but the reality is many find this time of transition difficult and frustrating. Asking for help during difficult moments shows strength and maturity. You don't need to handle these things on your own. We can partner together to find solutions to situations and circumstances that feel overwhelming or confusing. Give me a call and we'll get started.
